Blending - Hesselink Koffiebranders - Blender

Our family business has been passionate about coffee since 1885. Now the fourth and fifth generations of coffee roasters are at the helm. Over all these years we have perfected the blending and roasting of the coffee beans. In everything we do, we think about the impact on people and the environment. In this way, together we ensure that we can continue to enjoy responsibly produced quality coffee in the future. We also pay attention to good working conditions and transparency throughout the chain. Our business premises are certified by BREEAM-NL. This is the quality mark to measure and assess the sustainability of buildings. Our building is heated entirely electrically with air heat pumps. We generate the required energy for this with 850 (!) solar panels. Our coffee has the Fairtrade Organic certificate and the SKAL certification. Blending is an important step taken to create unique coffee flavors. After much testing and tasting, we have put together some ultimate blends. These blends are unique and give the one and only Hesselink flavor to the coffee. The recipes are in the system, so that we can automatically blend the coffee beans in the correct proportions.

Roaster - Hesselink Koffiebranders - Roaster

We roast the coffee beans in a drum roaster according to the easy-roast method. The coffee beans are roasted instead of roasted. This gives the flavors and aromas plenty of time to develop optimally. After roasting, we take a sample from each batch so that we can check the color and quality in our coffee laboratory. We are always looking for ways to produce as little waste as possible. That is why we work together with Rotterzwam, who use coffee grounds as a breeding ground for oyster mushrooms. Another collaboration partner is Unwaste. Unwaste transforms coffee grounds into a unique hand soap.

Packer - Hesselink Koffiebranders - Packer

Immediately after roasting, the coffee is sustainably packaged. We use a 100 percent recyclable monofilm. The foil ensures that the coffee optimally retains its taste and aroma. The coffee bags are then packed in (oxygen bleached) outer boxes. After packaging, the coffee goes to the warehouse. The packages remain there for approximately 10 days, so that the taste and aromas can develop optimally.

The Hesselink family has been passionate about coffee since 1885. Now the fourth and fifth generations of coffee roasters are at the helm. They too were instilled with a love for coffee at an early age – or rather: the coffee spoon. In all these years we have perfected the blending and roasting of coffee beans, as well as producing coffee in a traditional, sustainable and fair way. The best thing about our profession? Knowing that we bring happiness in so many different places every day.
